Sensory Processing: Understand Its Importance

We are all sensory beings, but our experiences are unique. We use sensory words to describe our experiences. The brain's source of information comes from sensory systems. Sensory information helps to understand our own bodies and the world around us.

The sensations are everywhere!!! Sounds, sights, touches, tastes, smells and movements that affect our entire body. The world around us makes sounds, offers smells and tastes and things to be seen.

Are you sensitive to tickling?

Do you cut the tags off your clothes?

Do you need to be hard on the run to have a good day?

Do you cringe when drinking sour lemonade?

Do you keep the window shutters down?

Do you listen to music at full volume?

The sensory processing assessment shows how much your sensory responses say a lot about you. They open the window for you to understand how your sensory systems and sensations work; and when you decipher your senses, life can be so much more fulfilling. Understanding about their senses goes beyond the word and brings the possibility of helping everyone to better understand their thoughts and emotions. According to research carried out by Dunn 2017, there are some behavior patterns, specifically that people have different ways of reacting to sensory experiences in everyday life. These reactions are most vivid in people whose unusual sensory process can interfere with daily activities. People with mild autism spectrum, attention deficit, and learning difficulties may exhibit these unusual patterns in the sensory process.
