Adult and Elderly Neuropsychology

In the Neuropsychological Assessment of adults and the elderly, we access, through specific instruments and techniques, each of the brain's capacities, such as attentional and executive functions, learning new information, memory in its different aspects and intellectual functioning. It makes it possible to understand the patient's cognitive abilities and difficulties, helps to plan rehabilitation and direct treatment, as well as contributes to medical diagnosis.

It is a process composed of three stages: anamnesis (collection of historical data), evaluation (application of instruments and techniques) and feedback (presentation of results, guidance and delivery of the report).

Neuropsychological Rehabilitation has three main objectives: cognitive stimulation (exercises for the development of attentional, planning and memory capacities, for example), development of compensatory strategies for better functioning in daily activities and family guidance.

Some indications for the evaluation and neuropsychological rehabilitation of the elderly:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Learning Disorders
  • Epilepsy
  • Craniencephalic Trauma
  • Brain Tumors
  • Brain stroke
  • Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus
  • Normal Aging and Dementias
  • Psychiatric Disorders

Preschool Child Neuropsychology

Neuropsychological assessment in the preschool phase, from 3 to 5 years of age, is essential to understand the child's cognitive and behavioral profile. For this age group, it is already possible to assess intelligence, short-term memory, executive functions (EF) and attention, theory of mind and visuoconstructive and visuospatial skills, in addition to language and motor skills.

The earlier the diagnosis, the faster cognitive rehabilitation can be started, thus increasing the chances of functional recovery. Based on the neuropsychological examination, it is possible to provide guidance to education professionals about teaching strategies that can favor the learning of the assessed child. Clinic Proessencial can help parents, teachers and educators in this early childhood assessment and ensure more mental health in their child's development, in and out of school.

We assessed intelligence, short-term memory, executive functions (EF) and attention, theory of mind and visuoconstructive and visuospatial skills, socio-emotional aspects in addition to language and motor skills.

Adolescent Neuropsychology

The neuropsychological assessment of adolescents is essential to understand the cognitive and social-emotional profile of behavior in adolescence. We assessed intelligence, memory, executive functions (EF) and attention, thinking, psychomotor, visuoconstructive and visuospatial skills, socio-emotional aspects, in addition to language and motor skills.

The earlier the diagnosis, the faster cognitive rehabilitation can be started, thus increasing the chances of functional recovery and possible diagnosis. Adolescents who arrive for evaluation are already dealing with many difficulties that they cannot identify, due to delayed diagnosis, may be bullied (due to distraction, difficulty in socialization). From the neuropsychological examination, it is possible to promote a rehabilitation program with the adolescent, guidance to parents and education professionals about teaching strategies that can favor the learning of the assessed adolescent.
